Police found the 2-year-old child, who had been reported missing, in a residential pool.

Authorities are investigating the death of a 2-year-old who drowned in a South Jersey pool over the weekend.

Officers went to a home on South Pitney Road in Galloway Township, Atlantic County, about 8:30 a.m. Sunday upon getting a report of a missing child, authorities said.

Investigators found the toddler, whose name was not released, in a pool at a nearby home a short time later, officials said.

The child was taken to AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus and died at the hospital.

Further information about the toddler or the circumstances of the drowning wasn't available. Police are continuing to investigate.
