Chester County woman fatally shot in head in apparent road rage

The family of Bianca Roberson, an 18-year-old recent high school graduate who was killed during an apparent road rage incident in Chester County, is appealing for anyone information about the driver in a red pickup truck who shot her to go to the police.

"She was good girl, an honor roll student, looking forward to going to college," her father, Rodney Roberson, told 6ABC.

Bianca Roberson had just graduated from Bayard Rustin High School and was headed to Jacksonville (Fla.) University in the fall.

A $5,000 reward is also being offered in the case,

Calling it "a totally random, senseless act of violence," Chester County District Attorney Thomas P. Hogan said Roberson was shot in the head  Wednesday evening by another driver as the two tried to merge into a single lane on the Route 100 bypass in West Goshen.

Roberson was driving south as the road approaches Route 202 and goes from two lanes to one, Hogan said. Witnesses said a man in a faded red pickup truck was jockeying with Roberson to merge into the same lane, pulled out a gun, and shot her. Her car veered off the road around 5:30 p.m. and crashed.

Witnesses said the shooter then drove onto Route 202 and down the shoulder of the road to Paoli Pike, where he disappeared.

Witnesses described the shooter as a white man of medium build with blond or light-brown hair. Police plan to review video footage from PennDot cameras and businesses on Paoli Pike.

Rodney Roberson said his family is devastated by Bianca's death. "We were all excited for her," he told NBC10.
