1 dead, 2 injured in Northeast Philly Roosevelt Blvd. crash

The collision closed the busy intersection of Cottman Avenue and the outer southbound lanes of the boulevard for hours.

One man was killed and two others were injured in a crash at the busy intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

The collision occurred about 4:35 a.m. Monday in the southbound outer lanes of the Boulevard and involved a Toyota sedan and a limousine.

The 29-year-old driver of the Toyota, which rammed into a utility pole after the initial impact, was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:18 a.m., officials said. A 25-year-old passenger in the Toyota also was taken to Jefferson with head lacerations and leg pains, and reported in stable condition. The limo driver was taken to Nazareth Hospital and listed in stable condition.

The cause of the crash, which closed the intersection for hours, is under investigation.
