Police open fire at shooting suspect in Kensington

Police fired shots at a man suspected of shooting a woman Wednesday evening in the city's Kensington section.

"Shots fired!" an officer shouted on his radio to dispatchers just after 7:30 p.m. in the 400 block of East Somerset Street near SEPTA's Somerset Station.

At least three officers fired their guns at the man. Fox29 reported Wednesday night that a total of seven officers discharged their firearms. The woman and the man were taken in separate police vehicles to Temple University Hospital.

A revolver was recovered at the scene, police said.
