Penn kicker Jack Soslow is a semifinalist for a major national student-athlete award

The postgradute scholarship award is worth $25,000.

Penn place kicker Jack Soslow started the season by being named the Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week.

The senior from the Haverford School in Bryn Mawr has been named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy. Presented annually by the National Football Foundation, the award honors the most outstanding scholar-athlete in college football.

To be considered, a player must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility, maintain at least a 3.2 GPA, possess outstanding football ability, and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. Each school is limited to one nominee.

The 179 semifinalists have been selected across all divisions of college football. Soslow, who is in the Wharton School, is one of 40 FCS players nominated and seven from the Ivy League.

"Jack has grown into a model student-athlete and role model on our team, excelling at a high level on the field and in the classroom," said George A. Munger Head Coach of Football at Penn Ray Priore. "He is a tremendous representation of our University and football program and a deserving candidate for this award."

Soslow, who was first-team All-Ivy League kicker in 2017, is three-for-three on field goals this season. In his career, he is 13-for-16 on field goal attempts and 43-of-44 on PATs

The NFF will announce 12-14 finalists on Oct. 31, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 60th NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class.

The finalists will travel to New York City for the 61st NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 4. The winner of the 29th William V. Campbell Trophy® and have his postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000.
