Temple receiver Isaiah Wright was named the American Athletic Conference special teams player of the week after the Owls' 49-6 win over East Carolina.

Wright scored on a 59-yard punt return, the third return touchdown of his Temple career. The junior returned five punts for 129 yards and one kickoff for 27 yards. He also had three receptions for 22 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown reception.

For the season, he is averaging 17.2 yards on 10 punt returns with the one score. Wright is averaging 22.5 yards on 15 kickoff returns.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Wright has 18 receptions for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Also used as a Wildcat quarterback, Wright has rushed for 55 yards on 11 carries.

Wright is the third Temple player this season to earn an AAC weekly award. Defensive linemen Michael Dogbe and Quincy Roche were previous winners.

Owls redshirt sophomore quarterback Anthony Russo made the AAC honor roll after completing 21 of 25 passes for 254 yards and four touchdowns to four receivers.

Temple (3-3, 2-0 AAC) will visit Navy (2-3, 1-1) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Navy is looking to bounce back from a 35-7 loss at Air Force.

"We got beat by a team thoroughly, and Temple is probably better than Air Force," Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo said during Monday's AAC media call.

Armstead injury update

Running back Ryquell Armstead suffered an apparent ankle injury during Saturday's win. He twice came off the field limping in the second half and left the game for good after the first play of the fourth quarter. With Temple leading by 42-3, Armstead was going for a fifth straight 100-yard performance. He settled for 91 yards on 20 carries.

Asked about Armstead's status during Monday's AAC call, coach Geoff Collins said, "He is still getting better. He ran the ball really hard on Saturday like he always does and was tweaked, and it will be day to day."

Cincinnati kickoff announced

The AAC announced that Temple's game at Lincoln Financial Field against Cincinnati on Oct. 20 will start at noon and air on ESPNU. Cincinnati is 6-0 and has a bye this week.
