The Eagles traded up in the fourth round to select San Diego State running back Donnel Pumphrey with the No. 132 overall pick in the NFL draft on Saturday.

He led the country with 2,133 rushing yards last season on 343 carries, earning second-team all-American honors. He also reached the end zone 17 times. He scored 62 rushing touchdowns in his career and averaged 6 yards per carry. He also had 99 career catches for 1,039 yards and five touchdowns.

The knock on Pumphrey is his size. He's 5-foot-8 and 176 pounds, and he could become Darren Sproles' eventual replacement with the Eagles. Pumphrey ran the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds. Despite his size, though, he's proven he can carry a heavy load. He was durable, leading the nation in carries and not missing any games.
Pumphrey joins a backfield with Sproles and Wendell Smallwood. Ryan Mathews also remains on the roster, although there's uncertainty surrounding his future while he recovers from a neck injury.
