Eagles vs. Cardinals: Key pre-game stats to know

Some relevant stats to munch on with your pre-game tailgate burger and beer:

— The Eagles have a league-high 33 rushing first downs. They've only allowed 14, which is the second fewest in the league. The Broncos have given up 10.

— In the first half last week against the Chargers, the Eagles ran 39 plays. Thirty-two of them were run with "11'' personnel (1RB, 1TE, 3WRs). Overall, 52 of their 74 offensive plays (70.3%) were run with "11''. For the season, they've used "11'' on 178 of 281 plays (63.3%).

— One hundred ninety-six of the Eagles' 281 plays (69.7%) have been run out of shotgun. One hundred thirty-three of those 196 have been pass plays (67.8%).

— The Eagles have run 85 plays from under center. Fifty-nine have been run plays and just 26 have been pass plays. The Eagles are averaging 4.6 yards per carry from shotgun and 4.8 from under center.

— Thirty-two of LeGarrette Blount's 42 rushing attempts have been from under center. He's averaging 7.1 yards per carry on plays from under center, 2.3 from shotgun. He has rushed for 169 yards on 22 carries (7.7 yards per carry) in "11'' personnel, 28 yards on 10 carries (2.8) in "12'' (1RB, 2TEs, 2WRs), and 57 yards on 8 carries (7.1) in "13'' (1RB, 3 TEs, 1 WR).

— The Eagles are third in total offense. They're averaging 392.5 yards per game. They're seventh in scoring (25.7 points per game) and second in first downs per game (24.0).

— The Eagles have blitzed on just 19.6 percent of opponent pass plays (32 of 163 plays) in their first four games (In the last three games, that percentage has been just 16.0 (19 of 119). Opponent passing numbers when they've sent five or more rushers: 48.3 passer rating, 46.6 completion percentage, 5.1 yards per attempt, 0 TDs, 1 INT, two sacks. When they've rushed three (once) or four: 108.4 passer rating, 70.7 completion percentage, 8.4 yards per attempt, seven TDs, 2 INTs, eight sacks.

— Tight ends have been targeted 35 times in the first four games against the Eagles and have 26 catches for 218 yards (8.4 yards per catch) and two TDs.

— Opposing running backs have been targeted 19 times and have 16 catches for 149 yards (9.3 yards per catch) and one TD.

— The Eagles have 10 sacks. Three of them have come on first down, four on second down and three on third down. Sack breakdown by quarter: two in the first quarter, four in the second, two in the third and two in the fourth.

— The Eagles are 30th in average drive start (25.5 yard line). They've started at their 40-yard line or better just two times in the last three games. They're 28th in opponent average drive start (30.0).

— Carson Wentz is sixth in third-down passing (107.2 rating). He has a 65.0 completion percentage, is averaging 8.7 yards per attempt and has three TDs and one INT on third down. Last year, he finished 28th in third-down passing (67.0) with a 55.8 completion percentage, 6.1 yards per attempt, three TDs and five INTs. Twenty-one of his 26 third-down completions (80.8%) in the first four games have resulted in first downs. Last year, just 69 percent of his third-down completions resulted in first downs (60 of 87).

— Zach Ertz, Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor all have six third-down receptions. Torrey Smith and Wendell Smallwood each have three. LeGarrette Blount and Trey Burton have the other two.

— Five of Ertz's six third-down receptions have been for first downs. Same with Agholor. Four of Jeffery's six third-down catches have been first downs.

— Ertz is tied for third in the NFL in receptions with 26. He's on pace for 104 catches. He's been targeted 36 times, which is the most in the league by a tight end. He has at least five receptions in 11 of his last 13 games.

— Eighteen of Ertz's 26 catches have come on passes that traveled between zero and 10 yards.

— The Eagles have seven drops. Smith has four of them. Ertz, Jeffery and Trey Burton each have one.

— The Eagles lead the league in runs of 10 or more yards. They have 19. Blount has a team-high six. Wentz has five.

— Blount is averaging 4.8 yards per carry on first down (25-120), 9.2 on second down (12-110) and 3.8 on third down (5-19).

— Blount is averaging 7.7 yards per carry in "11'' personnel groupings (1RB, 1TE, 3WRs) with 169 yards on 22 carries, and 7.1 yards per carry (8-57) in "13'' personnel (1RB, 3TEs, 1WR). He's averaging just 2.8 yards per carry (10-28) in "12'' personnel (1RB, 2TEs, 2WRs).

— Blount has a team-high nine rushing first downs and six runs of 10 yards or more. Just three of his 42 rushing attempts have lost yards.

— Wentz has eight rushing first downs. That's the third most in the NFL behind the Bills' Tyrod Taylor and the Panthers' Cam Newton, who each have nine.

— Corey Clement has five rushing first downs in just 16 carries.

— Wentz is 9-for-17 with five TDs and no interceptions in the red zone. That's a 20-TD pace. He had 12 as a rookie.

— Wentz has a 100.3 passer rating on first down. He's completed 66.7 percent of his first-down passes. But eight of his 12 sacks also have come on first down. He has a 65.9 passer rating on second down, including a 50.0 completion percentage (one sack).

— The Eagles defense has allowed eight runs of 10 or more yards. That's the ninth fewest in the league. but two of them — Kareem Hunt's 53-yard run and Austin Ekeler's 35-yard run — were for TDs.

— The Eagles have scored on their first possession in three of the first four games (2 TDs, 1 FG). They are averaging 7.6 yards per play on their first possession, with 13 first downs.

— Jake Elliott has nine touchbacks on his last nine kickoffs.

— The Eagles have given up just 14 punt return yards in the first four games (six returns).

— The Eagles have the second lowest percentage of three-and-out drives (13.3 percent). They've had just six three-and-outs on 45 possessions.
