Sat. S.J. boys' and girls' roundup: Eustace senior hits milestone

Sho DaSilva got loose for a fast-break dunk in the third quarter and the basket allowed the Bishop Eustace senior to reach 1,000 career points on Saturday in the Crusaders' 92-59 Olympic Conference boys' basketball win over visiting Winslow Township.

DaSilva, a 6-foot-3 swingman, became the 13th boy in Eustace history to reach the milestone when he scored 19 points in the contest, joining a group that includes his coach, Bob Falconiero.

Ryan Bland and Carson Puriefoy, who reached 1,000 points last season, added 18 points apiece.

Also in the Olympic, host Camden stunned No. 4 Shawnee, 75-44, as 6-foot-6 junior Ajwan Leaming contributed 23 points and 15 rebounds.

Mike Wilson scored 21 points and Avery Walker blocked eight shots to highlight No. 2 Eastern's 67-53 home win over Timber Creek.

Marc Schlessel posted 30 points, six assists and five rebounds while Jake Gurkin battled inside for 13 points and 15 boards, as fifth-ranked Cherry Hill East beat visiting Woodrow Wilson, 69-57.

Seventh-ranked Lenape cruised to a 72-52 home win over Pennsauken, thanks to 19 points by Tabu Gaither and 18 apiece from Avery Brown and Evan Ward.

Nonleague. Brandon Joyner converted 5 of 6 free throws over the final 90 seconds in finishing with a game-high 18 points, as host Haddon Heights edged Washington Township, 59-52.

Delsea's Cedric Elleby piled up an impressive game in an 80-65 win at Sacred Heart, posting 30 points, 17 rebounds, four blocked shots and for steals.

Davon Jones added 15 points for the Garnets, who improved to 8-0. The Minutemen were led by Marquise McCormick's 16 points.

Tri-County. Mike Shawaryn and Chris Sacchetti scored 13 points apiece and Ryan Schoppy netted 11, paving the way for Gloucester Catholic's 53-44 triumph at Glassboro.

Burlington County. Tyler Barnes grabbed eight rebounds and ignited a 20-8 third-quarter run by scoring 10 of his 21 points, sending host New Egypt past Palmyra, 57-44.

Ranney School Tournament. Doane Academy won the tournament, 61-40, over host Ranney as MVP Davis Graham scored 14 points.

The Giedemann twins, Kelly and Kylie, teamed up for 25 points and Washington Township turned up the defensive pressure over the last three quarters to take a 49-31 nonleague win at sixth-ranked Delsea.

Dominique Hassinger had 11 points for the Crusaders, who held a 17-14 lead after the first quarter but managed just 14 the rest of the way.

Haddon Township got four overtime points from Kelly Roche and escaped with a 58-54 win at Lower Cape May. Alayxiah Carr and Roche combined for 16 rebounds.

Erica Witherbee made four three-point baskets in fashioning a double-double (20 points, 10 rebounds) that enabled host Collingswood to survive a fourth-quarter charge by Pitman, 47-43. Karlie Crispin scored all of her 18 points from beyond the arc for the Panthers.

Alexsandria Matthews totaled 19 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and two blocks, and Andreya Lloyd contributed 12 points, 12 rebounds and five steals in carrying host Lindenwold to its first win of the season, 38-26, over Camden Academy Charter.

Olympic. Host Lenape ran its record to 6-1, using double-figure scoring by Brianna Wylie (16 points) and Taylor Holmes (13) and a 35-20 run over the second and third quarters to pull away from Pennsauken, 51-35.

Jackie Brown picked up 14 of her 29 points in a 28-15 third-quarter spree, Alyssa Cirrucci netted 26 and Bishop Eustace made 21 of 27 free throws in rolling, 77-47, at Winslow Township. Sage Bennett's 16 points led the Eagles, who finished 3 for 8 at the foul line.

Ranney School Tournament. MonaLisa Hyppolite keyed the offense with 12 points while Magdeline Striluk came through with 14 rebounds and seven steals, powering Doane Academy past Calvary Academy, 42-23, in the third-place game.
