Football Friday roundup: Coatesville stuns unbeaten Downingtown East

Dapree Bryant caught a touchdown pass with three seconds left as Coatesville stunned previously unbeaten Downingtown East, 38-27.

The Cougars took a 27-26 lead on Brassir Stocker's rushing touchdown with less than one minute to play. Coatesville responded with the late score and added a defensive score for good measure.

Garvey Jonassaint's third touchdown of the game gave the Cougars a 21-14 lead early in the third quarter. But the Red Raiders cut the gap to one when Ricky Ortega scored on a QB sneak.

Bryant's rushing touchdown gave the Red Raiders a 26-21 edge.

The Red Raiders (8-1) improved to 5-0 in Ches-Mont League National Division action and play Bishop Shanahan next week. Downingtown East (8-1) faces Avon Grove next week.

Springfield (Delco) secured at least a share of the Central League crown with a 14-7 win over Garnet Valley.

Kyle Long's 21-yard TD catch gave the Cougars an early lead. Springfield played solid defense throughout the first half and running back Ja'Den McKenzie made it 14-0 on a short run.

Garnet Valley's Ryan Gallagher scored on a QB keeper early in the third quarter. The Jaguars were driving later in the frame, but Phil Shovlin forced Matt Lassik to fumble.

The Cougars (9-0) can win the league outright next week against Haverford High next week.

Rahsul Faison continued to tear it up on the ground with 297 yards and six more touchdowns in Pottsgrove's 63-27 victory over Pope John Paul II. Faison entered the game with 1,952 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns.

The Falcons will bring a perfect 9-0 record into the PAC title game.

Neshaminy scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to beat Council Rock South, 28-0. Redskins running back Joel Stills' 10-yard run was the lone score of the first half.

Pennridge scored all of its points in the first half as they beat Central Bucks South, 21-7.

Ryan Garner scored from 13 yards out, Joe Devine caught a 19-yard TD pass, and Kyle Schetter plunged into the end zone to make it 21-0 Pennridge at the half. The Rams also had three interceptions on defense.

Pennridge plays Central Bucks East next week.

Joe Zubillaga accounted for three touchdowns as Unionville bounced back with a 42-14 rout of Sun Valley. The Indians lost to Downingtown East last week.

Unionville closes out the regular season next week against Great Valley.

Penn Wood's Christian Suber and Davee Rush came up with key sacks in the final seconds to put the finishing touches on the Patriots' 14-12 triumph ovrt Academy Park. Penn Wood clinched a share of the Del-Val League title with the win.

Anthony Paoletti threw four touchdown passes in Marple Newtown's 34-12 victory over Harriton. He now holds the school record for career passing touchdowns with 54.

Upper Dublin quarterback Julian Gimbel threw a pair of touchdown passes as Upper Dublin held off Hatboro-Horsham, 14-7.

Chris Edwards' 20-yard TD run put the Hatters on the board late in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals recovered the onside kick but needed one last defensive stop to secure the victory.

Pat Morrin threw four touchdown passes as Jenkintown blanked Valley Forge Military Academy, 36-0. The Drakes exploded for 29 points in the second quarter thanks to multiple VFMA turnovers.

Mike Addison ran for four touchdowns as Olney rolled past Washington, 40-12.
