Bucknell recruit Andrew Funk led the Vikings with 16 points Friday, but the Archbishop Wood boys' basketball lost to Montverde Academy (Fla.), 89-45, in the Cancer Research Classic in Wheeling, W.Va.

Montverde Academy is ranked second in the country by MaxPreps. Tyree Pickron, who is headed to Quinnipiac, added seven points for Wood.

Montverde Academy's R.J. Barrett led all scorers with 33 points. The senior will be playing for Mike Krzyzewski at Duke after graduation. The 6-foot-7 wing chose the Blue Devils over Kentucky and Oregon.

Thursday's snow did not stop the Vikings from busing west on the turnpike hours for the one-game appearance.

"It's great exposure to college coaches, especially for our younger guys." head coach John Mosco said.

The game was played on ESPN3, and Mosco said his big man Seth Pickney drew interest from DePaul Univeristy. Pickney has other interest from Portland State, Santa Clara, Hofstra, VCU, and St. Bonaventure.

Archbishop Wood will return home Saturday morning and resume Catholic League play Sunday at Archbishop Carroll.
