The La Salle boys' bowling team defeated Roman Catholic on Tuesday for its third Catholic League title in four years – rolling 2958 pins to 2646 pins.

The Explorers were led by senior Ryan McDonnell with games of 215, 225, and 259 (699 series).  He was helped by senior Thomas Leahan's 203 game, freshman Travis Ferral's 203 game, sophomore Joseph DiGiuseppe, and junior Paul Mueller's games of 202, 208, and 258 (668 series).

Roman Catholic was led by Ryan Guth's high game of 215 and Adam Moskal's 571 series. The Cahillites beat Father Judge in last year's PCL final.

The championship match was originally slated for Saturday at Erie Lanes, but a power outage postponed things until Tuesday at Thunderbird Lanes.

Quotes from La Salle:

McDonnell: "I've been here before and knew what I had to to to win. I just went out and bowled my best. We knew they were going to be rowdy, I was trying to stay calm and keep or team where we wanted to be."

Leahan: "Coach said I'm a throwing a good game, I said the more strikes I throw, the faster I get to go home."

Assistant coach Matt Single: "In the beginning of the season, we talked as a team and the kids said this season we wanted first place and the championship or the season is a bust. They worked hard all year and it was great to see them rewarded and hit all their goals."

Head coach Joe Ramsey: "From the first ball of the season until the last game, I knew they were a special group. I told them, listen to me and Matt and you will walk home with the crown. Once they listened to me and got around the oil on the lanes, the sky was the limit."
