As expected, 76ers post player Amir Johnson will miss Wednesday night's preseason opener against the Memphis Grizzlies because of a sprained right ankle.

This summer's free-agent acquisition suffered the injury when he was fouled on a layup during practice Tuesday. Johnson, who did not participate in Wednesday's shootaround, will be reevaluated on Thursday.

Dario Saric, Joel Embiid and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot also will miss the game.

The Sixers say that Saric, who also missed Wednesday's shootaround, will rest rather than play. Embiid isn't at optimum conditioning after having surgery in March to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. , Luwawu-Cabarrot is rehabilitating his right knee (patellar tendinitis).

Luwawu-Cabarrot was a full participant in the shootaround. Embiid received treatment and did not participate.
