Joel Embiid will not play Tuesday night against the Sacramento Kings.
The center has been dealing with tightness and soreness in his back that kept him sidelined on Nov. 9, Nov. 10, and again Monday in Chicago. Tuesday will the the seventh game this season that Embiid has not played.
Sixers coach Brett Brown said it was the medical staff's advice that with the soreness Embiid is experiencing, he should not play Tuesday. Brown added that he doesn't know whether or not Embiid will take more time off, and that the team will take it day by day.
Amir Johnson will start in place of Embiid.
Upon hearing the news that Embiid would not be playing Sacramento coach Dave Joerger said it doesn't give his team a free ride.
