Joel Embiid is out for tonight's game against the Miami Heat because of right ankle soreness.

The 76ers center was ruled out after receiving treatment before Wednesday's game.

Sitting just a half-game ahead of Miami, the Sixers will have a chance tonight to add more distance between themselves in seventh place in the Eastern Conference and the Heat in eighth.

"We have an opportunity here to beat a team that's right there in the mix for us for playoff position," JJ Redick said after the Sixers' morning shootaround Wednesday in Camden.

Not only that, but the Sixers are also hoping to head into the all-star break on a high note. They are 4-0 in their five-game home stand and have won five of their last six.

"We had a unique advantage in that we had five [home] games before all-star break and we wanted to win all five," Redick said. "This is sort of the finishing game. We've done exactly what we talked about doing. We've won the way we wanted to win."

Injury updates

Justin Anderson, who suffered a high right ankle sprain in the second quarter of the Sixers' 108-92 home victory Monday over the Knicks, is out and will be reevaluated in seven to 10 days.

Furkan Korkmaz is progressing in the rehabilitation of the Lisfranc injury in his left foot. Now able to bear weight on the foot, he will start doing limited and controlled basketball activities and be reevaluated in approximately three weeks.
