Pop star Justin Timberlake has rescheduled the remainder of his 2018 “Man of the Woods” tour dates for next year, including one here in Philly at the Wells Fargo Center, in order to recover from a bruised vocal cord.

Originally scheduled for Dec. 17, Timberlake’s Wells Fargo Center performance will now take place April 9. Tickets for the show scheduled for this month will be honored at the 2019 date. According to a release, additional tickets for the new date are now available via the Wells Fargo Center website and box office, or by phone at 1-800-298-4200.

Timberlake, 37, updated fans on his condition in a post on Instagram on Wednesday, writing that his doctors have asked him to rest his voice until January.

“My vocal cords are healing, but they are not all the way back to normal yet, so my doctors want me to continue to rest my voice,” Timberlake wrote. “I’m really sorry, I want to be back on the stage and I am doing all I can to get there quickly.”

Trouble for Timberlake began back in October, when he canceled a show at Madison Square Garden in New York, telling fans that his vocal cords were “severely bruised,” and that he would “make this up to you.” As Billboard notes, Timberlake later postponed shows in cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Fresno before scrapping the remainder of the tour this week.

Philadelphians, however, got a taste of Timberlake when he brought the “Man of the Woods” tour to town back in June for a sold out show at the Wells Fargo Center. As reporter Drew Lazor wrote in a review of the show for the Inquirer, Timberlake was still at the top of his game.

“Nice work if you can get it,” Lazor wrote of the performance. “Timberlake, a deeply gifted performer who reads the room better than anyone, got it, and he ain’t letting go.”
