Inside Syria’s Deadly Dynasty. How does a London-trained eye doctor — married to a former investment banker from Britain — go from a potential reformer to become one of the world’s most notorious dictators, whose crimes include chemical attacks on his own people? To understand, “you have to meet the family,” says this two-hour documentary, which compares Syrian President Bashar Assad to Michael Corleone from The Godfather, who, like Assad, was never intended for the family business. (Fans of FX’s fictional Mideast series Tyrant may find the story familiar.) 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, National Geographic Channel.

Berlin Station. James Cromwell joins Richard Armitage, Richard Jenkins, Michelle Forbes, Rhys Ifans, Ashley Judd, Leland Orser, and Keke Palmer for the Europe-set spy thriller’s third season, which takes place over the course of 11 days. 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, Epix.

Nightflyers. Space horror series, based on a novella by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, is set in 2093 aboard a spaceship on an expedition to find other life forms. If the first episode hooks you, you won’t have to wait for the second -- all 10 episodes will be available on Syfy’s digital platforms, including Syfy.com, and through On Demand after the first hits TV. 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, through Thursday, Dec. 6, and Sunday, Dec. 9, through Thursday, Dec. 13, Syfy.

Meet the Peetes Christmas Special. Philadelphia’s Holly Robinson Peete and her former Eagles quarterback husband, Rodney Peete, along with their children, star in Hallmark’s first “reality” show, which returns for this holiday-themed episode before its second season premieres in 2019. 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, Hallmark Channel.

Say Her Name: The Life and Death of Sandra Bland. Documentary explores the circumstances behind the 2015 death of 28-year-old Sandra Bland, an African American woman from Chicago who was arrested in a small Texas town after allegedly failing to signal and whose subsequent death in custody — controversially ruled a suicide — sparked outrage. 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, HBO.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The Emmy-winning ’50s fairy tale from Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino continues, as fledgling comedian Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) briefly takes her act to Paris before returning to deal, along with her agent, Susie (Alex Borstein), with the repercussions of some of those life-altering decisions from the first season. Happily, the world opens up, too, for Midge’s parents, Rose and Abe (Marin Hinkle and Tony Shalhoub), whose marriage takes an interesting turn. Wednesday, Dec. 5, Amazon.

Icebox. An all too timely drama from writer-director Daniel Sawka tells the story of a 12-year-old boy named Oscar (Anthony Gonzalez, Coco) fleeing gang violence in Honduras who becomes trapped in the U.S. immigration system. 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, HBO.
