Tuesday’s South Jersey roundup: Alex McNee’s game-winning single leads Cherokee past Cherry Hill East

Alex McNee’s game-winning single in the bottom of the eighth led Cherokee softball past Cherry Hill West, 1-0, on Tuesday. Karly Messina picked up the win on the mound and was the game-winning run for the Lions. Rachel Kubrak was 3-for-3 for Cherokee, while teammate Isabella Sylvester had two hits including a triple.

Morgan Hearn hit two home runs and drove in four in Audubon’s 18-1, five-inning rout of Haddon Township. McKenzie Yurcaba had eight strikeouts for the Green Wave. Sydney Eggleston went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs.

Emma Brennan had four hits, knocked in three runs and picked up the win on the mound for Lenape, who beat Williamstown, 10-9. Jayden Hunter went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Indians.

Holy Cross clinched at least a share of the Burlington County Freedom division title, beating Maple Shade, 4-2. The division title is Holy Cross’ first since 1998.

Brooke Hampton struck out 11 batters through 3 2/3 innings in Westampton Tech’s 7-2 win over Burlington City. Angelita Martinez went 3-for-4 with three runs. Ailah Charles had three hits including a double, a run and an RBI.

Gabby D’Ottavio and Reyna Torres both doubled to lift Buena over Wildwood Catholic, 3-2. Nat Ampole struck out six for the Chiefs. Emily Cimino had seven strikeouts for the Crusaders.

Mainland scored the game’s only two runs with a suicide squeeze bunt and a sacrifice fly in the third inning to give it a 2-0 win over St. Joseph. Jess Ingram had 16 strikeouts for the Mustangs.

Madison Rios and Gwen Wells both had home runs to lift Doane Academy over Pennington, 13-0. Diane Fine had three hits and three RBIs, while Asha Bhuiyan pitched a one-hit shutout.

Kayla Ottoviano went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs as Eastern crept past Paul VI, 5-4. D’Aaliyah Patterson had three hits including a double and an RBI for the Vikings.

Peyton Ensign’s three-hit day led Washington Township to a 11-1 win over Triton. Carly Quint went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Burlington Township shut out Moorestown, 11-0.

Ocean City scored six runs in the first and four in the fourth to beat Bridgeton, 12-2.

Nicole Travis and Karlee Flanagan both doubled in Delran’s 10-0 win over new Egypt.

Baseball

Caelen Bowles’ three-run double in the top of the sixth broke open the game for Millville, who beat Absegami, 8-1. Vinzell Rivera pitched six innings, giving up three hits and one run in the win. Dom Bozarth had three hits and scored two runs for the Thunderbolts.

Jayson Hoopes had 11 strikeouts through six shutout innings as St. Augustine blanked Holy Spirit, 11-0. Kyle Neri was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Anthony Sofran had two doubles.

Zach Senteneri was a home run away from the cycle in Palmyra’s 18-4 win over Medford Tech. Senteneri drpve in four runs and crossed the plate three times. Gio Narhwold went 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs.

Chris Brown tallied three hits including a home run, double and four RBIs to lead Haddonfield to a 16-10 win over Bordentown. The Bulldogs broke a 9-9 tie with seven runs in the top of the seventh inning. Cameron Caruso had a double and three RBIs for Haddonfield.

Eddie Biddle had three hits and three RBI’s in Salem’s 11-10 walk-off win over LEAP Academy. Salem scored two in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at nine. The Lancers scored a run in the top of the ninth before the Rams responded with two of their own.

Aiden Sommers went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs in Triton’s 3-1 win over Deptford. Shane Adamski was 2-for-3 for Deptford.

Audubon beat Haddon Township, 4-2. Blaze Fadio had a game-high two RBIs.

Burlington City scored 16 runs in the first inning on the way to a 23-0 rout of Willingboro in five innings.

Noah Putney’s four-hit, four-run day led Glassboro over Sterling, 12-1. Santino Mancini pitched four scoreless innings and struck out seven for the Bulldogs.

Ocean City beat Egg Harbor Township, 5-1. Tom Breazeale had a home run for the Red Raiders, while Jaden Millstein and AJ Campbell each had doubles.

Robert Barrientos had two hits and a run to lead Pennsauken to a 2-0 win over Rancocas Valley.

Delran scored three runs in the first on the way to a 6-1 win over Cinnaminson.

Vineland beat Woodstown, 6-5.

Moorestown edged Northern Burlington, 3-2.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Moorestown Friends fell to Germantown Friends, 12-10. Bella Runyan and Meghan Roberts combined for seven goals for the Foxes. Runyan tallied her 100th career goal in the loss.

Pennsauken came back to beat Sterling, 11-9. The Indians trailed 6-4 at halftime. Ruby Anyanwu had a hat trick for Pennsauken. Maddie Sheehan and KC Garcia had three goals apiece for the Silver Knights.

Veronika O’Donnell’s game-high seven goals were just enough to get Bishop Eustace past Washington Township, 13-12. Erin Renshaw had four goals for the Minutemaids.

Saylor Allen led all scorers with seven goals in Haddon Heights’ 16-9 win over Gateway. Margaret Campbell had four goals for the Garnets. Julianna Farina netted five goals for the Gators.

Woodstown used a 12-1 halftime advantage to win, 18-1, over Winslow Township. Twelve players had goals for the Wolverines, led by Ella Champingy and Charlie Baldwin each scoring three.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Moorestown Friends beat George School, 8-7, in overtime. Carrington Mizelle led the Foxes with a hat trick. Moorestown Friends was up 5-2 at halftime.
