Big bonuses, no layoffs, in-house auto show for workers, and other features of working life put $1.4 billion Automotive Resources Inc., the 65-year-old, Mount Laurel NJ-based Holman Automotive Group fleet-services unit, up at #27 on Fortune's yearly list of "100 Best Companies to Work For", here.

Down in Delaware, teams-based W.L. Gore also made the list, ranking with 13 companies that have placed on the "100 Best" list every year since the magazine started ranking employers in 1998. More here.

Grocers Wegmans and Whole Foods, broker Edward Jones, the Kimpton, Marriott and Four Seasons Hotels, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the other big accounting firms, REI outdoor goods and Darden restaurants, among other national firms with local operations, also made the list. So did Sheetz convenience stores. But not Wawa, or any other company based in Philly.
