Betting the U.S. government will speed its updates of aging computer systems, Data Systems Analysts Inc., a $170 million (2017 sales) Trevose-based employee-owned, government software-engineering contractor, says it has purchased Project Performance Co. LLC of McLean, Va., a $20 million (yearly sales) government IT and management-consulting firm, for an undisclosed price.
The deal, DSA's "first major acquisition" since it was started by former RCA engineers who developed electronic messaging for the U.S. military in 1963, "leverages recent growth," said John Foley, chief financial officer and executive vice president. DSA sales rose from $135 million last year. The company has been owned by an employee stock-ownership program since 1980.
DSA employs 400, with offices in Aberdeen, Md. (where Aberdeen Proving Ground is a client), San Antonio, Colorado Springs, Honolulu, the Washington, D.C., area, and other U.S. cities that are home to government agencies and military projects.
