Dumplings and drinks, 8 stories up, at Bok this summer

A "young and hungry" bar manager and home cook will oversee the bar's food this year.

The dumpling man is Hayden Mink, who describes himself as a "hobbyist cook" who's a friend of a friend of Bok's Lindsey Scannapieco. He's trading as Humble Dumplings.

Mink, who turns 27 this weekend, has managed a string of bars since his graduation from Temple University's Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Mink says Scannapieco was looking for "someone young and hungry" to do the food at the rooftop bar. Offered the opportunity after a dinner tasting, he says, "I quit my job and jumped on the Bok train."

Mink's menu includes pork and vegetable dumplings, a rice bowl with sesame seeds, scallions, egg, and pork belly, and dim-sum-style "tacos" made of scallion pancakes.

The Humble Dumplings name "speaks to what I'm doing in a big way," he said. There's no relation to Humpty's Dumplings, the potsticker-slingers now in Glenside with a planned expansion to Queen Village.

There's a full bar. Hours (weather dependent, of course) are 5 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, 5 p.m. to midnight Thursday, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday (when it's family day).

The entrance is on Mifflin Street near Eighth.
