Legendary soul vocalist Aretha Franklin, also known as the Queen of Soul, died Thursday at age 76, prompting a flood of remembrances from celebrity fans of the "Respect" singer online.

Franklin died at her home in Detroit after a battle with pancreatic cancer, according to reports, with family members telling the press earlier this week that the singer was "gravely ill." She is survived by four sons.

A prolific performer, Franklin's career spanned 60 years, and spawned hits including "Think," "The House That Jack Built," and her best-known track, "Respect." She recorded her first tracks at age 14, putting out a live gospel album dubbed Songs of Faith in 1956.

From there, Franklin moved into secular music, where she found success in styles like soul, R&B, and pop across more than 30 studio albums. She also moved into film, making notable appearances in 1980's The Blues Brothers, and the movie's followup, Blues Brothers 2000.

Throughout her career, Franklin earned 14 Grammy awards, and in 1987, became the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2008, Rolling Stone named Franklin the greatest singer of all time. The following year, she sang "My County 'Tis of Thee" at Barack Obama's presidential inauguration.
