Former CBS3 anchor Jessica Dean is heading to Washington.

Dean, whose last day on the air at CBS3 was Sept. 26, is joining CNN's D.C. bureau as a correspondent. CNN's Washington bureau chief, Sam Feist  announced Dean's hiring in a Twitter post on Monday afternoon.

In a Sept. 21 post on Twitter, Dean announced that she was "leaving the anchor desk for a new opportunity." She'd joined Philadelphia's CBS3 five years ago, and coanchored with Ukee Washington at 5, 6, and 11 on CBS3, and at 10 p.m. on sister station CW Philly 57.

Dean should be no stranger to politics.

Her husband, Blake Rutherford, who also retweeted Feist, has worked in government relations for the firm Cozen O'Connor since 2015 and has long ties to the Democratic Party, beginning in his native Arkansas with the presidential campaign of Bill Clinton. He at one point served as chief of staff for Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane, who was later charged and convicted of perjury, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice.
