If you dine out in Montgomery County, you can now check the latest health inspection reports for restaurants from Bala Cynwyd to Pottstown, from Warminster to Harleysville.
The reports, updated daily, can be found on Philly.com through the Inquirer's Clean Plates project.
Clean Plates is a searchable database that also contains inspection write-ups for restaurants in Philadelphia and Bucks County in Pennsylvania, and Gloucester County in New Jersey.
Data for Montgomery County, which includes reports dating from Aug. 1, 2016, include more than restaurants. The county also reports on bars, grocery and convenience stores, and school cafeterias.
Montgomery County employs 16 full-time inspectors, and last year conducted 8,515 inspections of 3,825 food facilities, according to spokeswoman Kaitlyn Foti.
In general, the reports are considered "snapshots in time" and may not reflect day-to-day conditions. But a history of questionable inspections could indicate the possibility of an increased risk of food-borne illness.
