Cops nab alleged gunman in attack on dispatcher's husband

After evading police for nearly a month, Alan Stokes will now answer for the senseless shooting that left the husband of a police dispatcher paralyzed.

Members of the FBI Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Stokes, 23, Wednesday at a home on Abbotsford Avenue near Greene Street in Germantown, police said today.

He has been charged with attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault and related offenses in the shooting of a man outside a West Philly grocery store last month, police said.

Stokes allegedly shot Edward Lynn, 49, six times near the entrance of the A&A Deli, on Haverford Avenue near Farson, according to police sources. The shooting capped an argument started over a petty misunderstanding: Lynn apparently bumped into Stokes while ordering a hoagie inside the cramped store.

The shooting left Lynn paralyzed from the waist down, sources told the Daily News at the time of the shooting.

Lynn's wife, Michelle, has worked in the Police Department for 14 years, according to city payroll records.
