Several passengers were injured Saturday morning when the driver of a charter bus lost control on a rain-slicked on-ramp to the westbound Pennsylvania Turnpike at Valley Forge, police said.

The bus hit signs and spun until it came to rest against a guardrail before 10 a.m., said Cpl. John Vachino of the Pennsylvania State Police. The bus was transporting a tour group that included senior citizens, he said. No serious injuries were reported, but a total of 19 people were transported to area hospitals, mostly as a precaution, Vachino said. Passengers had made "complaints of pain" after the accident, he said.

The bus sustained minor damage. It wound up blocking the ramp for a time, prompting police to urge motorists to find a different route from the King of Prussia area toward Chester County and points west.

Police released no additional information, including the name of the bus company or where its passengers were from.
