A 25-year-old Philadelphia police officer was charged Tuesday in a child pornography investigation, the department announced.

Emmanuel Folly, a three-year veteran assigned to the 18th District in West Philadelphia, surrendered to Internal Affairs investigators on Tuesday and was charged with sexual abuse of children, possession of child pornography, and dissemination of child pornography. Folly was in custody Tuesday night and could not be reached for comment.

Police Commissioner Richard Ross suspended Folly for 30 days with intent to dismiss.

Folly also is a professional boxer with an undefeated record.

In March 2016, the department's Special Victims Unit initiated an computer investigation using a program to track down people viewing, downloading, and sharing child porn.

That investigation led to an internet address registered to a residence in the 3300 block of North 15th Street in the city's Tioga section.

In November of last year, SVU investigators executed a warrant at the address and seized a laptop computer, a desktop computer, and a tablet computer. During the search, they learned that Folly lived at the residence with his parents.

The computers were sent to the FBI for forensic analysis. Child porn was found on the laptop computer, which was owned by Folly, police said.

Police are continuing to investigate.
