Vineland's Carli Kling becomes first girl to score in school history
Sophomore Carli Kling became the first girl to score a point for the Vineland football team in the season-opener Friday night against Bridgeton. Kling kicked the extra point after Vineland's third touchdown to make the score 21-8.
When Carli Kling had the chance to make history Friday night at Vineland High School, she wasn't completely aware of it.
During Vineland's 27-8 win over Bridgeton in the Fighting Clan's opener, the sophomore came on to kick the extra point with a chance to become the first girl in the program's history to score a point on the gridiron.
"I was shocked and surprised," Kling said after the game. "I felt really good.
"I'm still in shock about everything."
