SHANGHAI, China — JJ Redick missed the NBA China Games Media Day, Fan Day event, and 76ers practice Thursday because of gastroenteritis.

The shooting guard is listed as questionable for Friday morning's preseason game against the Dallas Mavericks at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

If he's unavailable to play, Redick will become the fifth Sixer to miss the game. Wilson Chandler (strained left hamstring), Jerryd Bayless (sprained left knee), Zhaire Smith (Jones fracture, left foot), and Norvel Pelle (gastroenteritis) did not make the trip to China for the two matchups against the Mavericks. The team will conclude the trip after Monday's game in Shenzhen at the Shenzhen University Center.

Redick signed his second consecutive one-year deal with the Sixers in July. The 34-year-old is coming off one of the best seasons in his 12-year career. He averaged career highs of 17.1 points and 2.5 rebounds. Redick also averaged 3.0 assists and shot 90.4 percent from the foul line and 40.2 percent on three-pointers.

The former Duke standout came off the bench in the first two preseason games. The Sixers are toying with using him in a reserve role for two reasons: They want to give Markelle Fultz, the first overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, an opportunity to start. The Sixers also think Redick can be a spark off the bench.

He's had mixed results in the preseason. Redick had 13 points on 4-for-11 shooting — including making just 2 of 7 three-pointers — in the 104-84 preseason-opener victory over the Melbourne United on Sept. 28. Then he finished with 12 points on 2-for-4 shooting in Monday's 120-114 win over the Orlando Magic. Redick made 2 of 3 three-pointers.
